Vestibular Migraine
Migraine that shows up as episodes of vertigo
Overview
Vestibular migraine is a recognized form of migraine in which the main symptoms are attacks of vertigo or dizziness, lasting from minutes to days. Headache may accompany some attacks, while others occur with no headache at all, which makes the condition easy to miss. Sensitivity to light, sound, and motion are common, and most people have a history of migraine. It is considered one of the most common causes of recurrent vertigo. Diagnosis rests on the pattern of symptoms using international criteria, since hearing and balance tests are often normal between attacks.
