Bone-Anchored Hearing Aids
Bone conduction implants for conductive loss and single-sided deafness
Overview
BAHA systems transmit sound through skull bone directly to the better cochlea, bypassing the ear canal and middle ear. Indications: chronic draining ears unusable for aids, congenital absence of ear canal, atresia, and single-sided deafness routing sound across the head. A titanium implant osseointegrates into the skull behind the ear, the processor attaches magnetically or snap. Non surgical soft band versions serve children until implant age. Speech in noise improves notably for conductive loss, moderately for SSD.
