Hearing Loop Systems
Magnetic field broadcast straight to hearing aid telecoils
Overview
A wire loop around a room, theater, church, ticket counter, broadcasts audio as a magnetic field picked up by the telecoil in hearing aids, delivering clean sound minus room noise and reverb. The user flips to T mode and hears as if seated at the microphone. Loops dominate in the UK and Scandinavia, spreading in the US. Venues advertise the loop sign, a blue ear. Where loops are absent, remote microphones and FM systems achieve similar direct audio. Installation in homes for TV listening is cheap and effective.
